World Book Day 2023

Books form a vital part of a child’s education and early years. Able to inspire imagination and boost confidence, books can provide children with gateways to other worlds, as well as exposing them to English language and literature – which can, in turn, have a positive impact on academic success.

Today, we’re celebrating World Book Day, which provides an incredible opportunity for our students to build a love of reading and share their favourite stories with their classmates. We could even inspire the next best-selling author!

To kick off the celebrations, we invited all of our parents in for a reading morning, giving them and their kids the chance to explore some of our brand new texts! Our students also took part in a ‘reading camp’ in our hall, where everyone came to school wearing pyjamas and got cosy with a hot chocolate and a story.

Finally, we introduced our ‘Reading Everywhere’ competition – for this, we challenged families and children to send in pictures of them reading in different and exciting places, encouraging them to take a love of reading out of our classrooms.

We pride ourselves on actively encouraging our children to develop a love of reading and learning throughout the year. If you’d like to know how you can get involved, you can find resources for families here.
