Staff at Warren Primary Academy organised a special afternoon tea party to celebrate the dedication of Kelsey Smale who has retired from the school after 25 years as a Midday Supervisor.

Kelsey has been an integral part of the school community, providing unwavering support and care to pupils and staff alike.

Kelsey’s journey began unexpectedly when she was dropping off her 5-year-old son at the school and was asked if she would like to help out at lunchtime. What started as some temporary assistance soon turned into a fulfilling career spanning over a decade.

Reflecting on her time at Warren Primary Academy, Kelsey recalls several cherished memories, including the academy’s silver jubilee celebrations in 2003 when a helicopter visited the grounds; day trips to the Space Centre and a picnic at Rushcliffe Country Park. The camaraderie and banter among staff have also been another highlight, with many friendships developed along the way.

Kelsey has immense pride in being a part of pupils’ growth and development throughout their primary years, witnessing their progress and being a part of their journey has been a rewarding experience.  Former pupils continue to greet her in the street or local supermarket.

Reflecting on her time at Warren Kelsey said:

“I have loved every minute of my time at Warren Primary Academy and I will miss the pupils and staff tremendously.  I have loved seeing the pupils grow and develop, being able to support them, teach them how to play games and do crafts together. It has been a privilege to be a part of their primary years. I am now looking forward to having the time to enjoy long walks, meet up with friends, spend quality time with my grandsons and pursue my hobbies.”
